classic Dan Quayle (44th US VicePresident), taken from Wikipedia
"We don't want to go back to tomorrow, we want to go forward."

"The future will be better tomorrow."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority..."

"I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix."

"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system..."

"You take the United Negro College Fund model that what a waste it is to lose one's mind or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit [as earth]....Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."
(note: HAHAHA WTH MAN.)

His most famous blunder occurred when he corrected a student's correct spelling of "potato" to "potatoe" at an elementary school spelling bee in Trenton, New Jersey, on June 15, 1992. According to his memoirs, Quayle was uncomfortable with the version he gave, but did so because he decided to trust what he described as incorrect written materials provided by the school.
